Delhi Players Set Up All-Delhi Final in Swarup Agarwal Memorial AITA Tennis Tournament

Lucknow: An all-Delhi clash will headline the singles final of the Swarup Agarwal Memorial AITA Men’s Prize Money Tennis Tournament, as top seed Mayank Sharma and Vansh Bisht stormed into the title round with commanding semifinal performances.

The tournament, carrying a prize purse of ₹1 lakh and sponsored by India Pesticides Limited, is being hosted by SDS Tennis Academy at the La Martiniere Lawn Tennis Facility in Lucknow.

In the first singles semifinal, top-seeded Mayank Sharma delivered a dominant display, defeating eighth seed Arnatya Ohlyan of Haryana 6-1, 6-0. Sharma controlled the match from the outset with powerful serves and aggressive baseline play, leaving his opponent with little room to recover.

The second semifinal saw Vansh Bisht secure his place in the final after Haryana’s Vansh Nandal retired midway through the match. At the time of retirement, Bisht was leading comfortably 4-1 in the opening set and appeared firmly in control.

The doubles category also witnessed intense competition, with the finalists now confirmed. In the first semifinal, third-seeded pair Mukil Ramanan and Rikki Chaudhary edged past Lav Pahal and Jasraj Singh in a closely contested match, winning 7-6(5), 6-2. The opening set went down to a tense tie-break, where Mukil and Rikki held their nerve before dominating the second set with aggressive play.

In the second doubles semifinal, the duo of Vansh Nandal and Mayank Sharma staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Sunil Kumar and Eklavya Singh 5-7, 6-4, 10-4 in a super tie-break. After losing the first set, the pair regrouped and showcased excellent coordination and strategy to turn the match in their favor.

With both singles finalists hailing from Delhi, the stage is set for an exciting title clash, promising high-quality tennis and a fitting finale to the tournament.
